Wiley Post Festival ready to soar high

Plans for the 2019 Wiley Post Festival are well underway.

The festival will be held in downtown Maysville on Saturday, September 14.

Organizers are still accepting vendor applications and they are still searching for more prince and princess candidates.

“We will have the adventure package and freezer full of meat giveaways like last year,” said Maysville Librarian Janet Dinwiddie.

The freezer full of meat giveaway will be $200 worth of meat from Super C and a freezer donated by Beach Heat and Air. 

The adventure package is currently valued at $1301.98 and may increase in value as more items come in.  

Some items already secured for the adventure package include:

•4 – passes to Science Museum Oklahoma – $67.80

•2 – tickets to Silver Dollar City (Branson, MO) – $142.00

•4 passes to OKC Zoo – $44

•4- passes to Celebrity Car Museum -Branson – $81.20

•2- tickets to Branson’s Wild World Animal Adventure Park & Aquarium – $37.90

•4- tickets to AAA Texas 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Nov. 3, 2019 at Texas Motor Speedway – $540.00

•4- tickets to O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 NASCAR XFINITY Series Nov. 2, 2019 at Texas Motor Speedway – $240.00

•2- tickets to Ice – The Acrobats on Ice – Branson – $69.58

•2- tickets to the Shepherd of the Hills Outdoor Theatre – Branson – $79.50

This year the Wiley Post Festival will include the Oklahoma Garrison of the 501st Legion.

The 501st Legion is an international STAR WARS™ costuming organization dedicated to celebrating the STAR WARS universe through the creation, display, and wearing of quality character costumes that represent the villainous characters from the STAR WARS saga. 

The Legion promotes interest in STAR WARS and facilitates the use of these costumes for STAR WARS-related events and contributes to the local community through costumed charity and volunteer work.
