The Pauls Valley Band is once again hosting one of their biggest and best fundraisers of the year and this year these funds are earmarked for New Orleans as they are going to make the trip to the Big Easy to march in the Sugar Bowl Parade and attend the game.

To be held Thursday, November 9th, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Garvin County Fair Barns, the event boasts nineteen Pauls Valley restaurants serving up samples of their delicious cuisines, which is exactly what people should expect.

“It’s a sampling portion, it’s not like Golden Coral. You aren’t going to get a whole pizza,” laughed band director Drew Etheredge.

One of the more special things about Taste of the Valley is the restaurants and businesses that participate and donate their services and products 100%, so every dollar raised goes to the child who sold the tickets trip.

“It’s a 100% profit for these kids, not like selling cookie dough and they only get to keep 40% or something like that. This is a lot better,” said Etheredge.

“I want to say a huge thank you to the businesses because without them this event wouldn’t happen,” Etheredge went on.

On average, the event sees about 800 to 1,000 people, though during trip years Etheredge says it leans towards the higher end.

“It really has become a big event and how often do all of these businesses get to get together under one roof?” he said

As far a favorite booth to raid at Taste, Etheredge couldn’t choose, saying everything is amazing.

Etheredge said the kids have had a great marching season, winning numerous awards and have worked really hard to get where they are.

The band will be staying four days and three nights in New Orleans and will have the opportunity to do numerous things including go on a swamp tour, a plantation tour, and a city bus tour.

“It really is a once in a lifetime opportunity for some of these kids,” shared Etheredge.

The event will also feature a silent auction with proceeds going to the trip.

Tickets are $10.00 and are available from all band members.
