PV man uninjured after collision near Walters

A Pauls Valley man was involved in a personal injury collision that occurred September 20, 2019 at approximately 8:45 a.m. on State Highway 65 and State Highway 53 about five miles east of Walters, Oklahoma in Cotton County.

Curtis E. Cater, age 53, of Pauls Valley, was driving a 2017 Freightliner that was southbound on SH 65 and was attempting to make a right turn onto SH 53.

Vernon Dunn, Jr., age 74, of Loco, Okla. was driving a 2005 Peterbuilt westbound on SH 53.

According to OHP, the Cater vehicle failed to yield, causing Dunn’s vehicle to impact Cater. Dunn’s truck departed the roadway to the left rolling one-fourth time and coming to rest on its side.

Cater was not injured. Dunn was transported to Duncan Regional Hospital where he was admitted in good condition with arm injuries.
Cause of collision was listed as failure to yield. Seatbelts were in use by both drivers. 

The incident was investigated by Trooper Bryce Lewallen #872 of the Comanche County detachment of Troop G, with assistance by Trooper Jacob Dickinson #515 of Troop G and Trooper Robert Hedges #262 of Size and Weights. Also assisting was Cotton County SO, AMR, Walters FD and ODOT.
