The Maysville Town Board met in a special session Monday night, August 5, to choose a new board member and after meeting in executive session board members welcomed an old friend back to the Town Board table.
Former board member Cathy Nobles was chosen to take the place of James Lindig, who was forced off of the town board due excessive absences.
When asked why she decided to come back to the Town Board table, Nobles told the News Star her health was much better now, which was the main reason why she left the board the first time.
“I love this town and I think I can make a difference,” Nobles said.
Nobles said several town employees had asked her to come back to the town board once Lindig’s seat was available.
“I had several employees tell me they wanted me to return, so I was very happy to be chosen for the seat,” Nobles said.
Nobles said her health is much better now and she’s ready to serve Maysville.
“I’m up to the challenge,” she said.
Nobles will be officially sworn into office at the next regularly scheduled board meeting on August 19.
According to Town Clerk Sandra Albright, there was one other candidate who expressed interest in the town board seat, but questions about her residency caused board members to choose Nobles instead.
