The mostly new Stratford Little League Foundation Board is working on its 4th year hosting the Peach Festival and planning is well underway. The Festival will be on July 20th this year. There are still openings for retail vendors, although all spaces for food vendors are full at this time.
As always, the festival will begin with a 5K run in the park. Registration is open now at https://StratfordPeachFestival5k.itsyourrace.com. Tee shirts are guaranteed as long as participants sign up by July 10th.
Chelsea Atzbach is organizing the Peach Royalty Pageant with assistance from Tricia Wood. The registration fee is $25 and contestants must be local to Stratford. Categories are Peach Bud (males ages 2-5 years), Peach Blossom (females ages 2-5 years), Peach Princess (females ages 6-11 years), and Peach Queen (females ages 12-18 years). For full details contact Atzbach at (580) 759-5063 or message the 2019 Stratford Peach Festival page on Facebook. The deadline to sign-up for the pageant is July 1st.
The Peach Festival Car Show is being revamped and run by new members. It will be located at the Southwest side of the Stratford Park and a car parade is planned for this year! Registration will begin at 9 a.m. with an entry fee of $25.
Peach Cook-Off contest is on again this year. Bring your favorite dish to the table by the pavilion by 10 a.m. on the 20th. Each entered dish must have one peach in it and the written recipe must accompany the dish. The entry fee for the Peach Cook-Off is ten dollars.
As in the past several years, a free pancake breakfast will be offered in the park starting at 7 a.m.
Local performers will be on the pavilion throughout the day. The Chickasaw Nation Dance Troop, a crowd favorite, will be performing in the morning.
A kid-favorite, the Turtle Race will be held at the pavilion at 10:40 a.m. Contestants will need to bring their own turtle to join the fun. There is no entry fee and all children are encouraged to participate.
The 2019 Peach Festival will be preceded by the Stratford Round-up Club IPRA/ACRA Rodeo Parade at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, and the Rodeo will begin at 8 p.m. each night through Saturday night.
