104th Garvin County Fair Almost Here

The 104th Garvin County Fair is less than two weeks away. Set for August 20-24, organizers are busy preparing for another great year.

The official 2019 Garvin County Free Fair Guide is available with entry information. Copies are currently available at the OSU Extension office, 201 W. Grant Ave., Rm 7, Pauls Valley and can be found in businesses throughout the county. It may also be accessed via the Garvin County Fair pages found online at www.oces.okstate.edu/garvin.

The fair kicks off with open, OHCE and 4-H indoor entries accepted on Tuesday, August 20. To save time, exhibitors may also submit entry forms no later than August 15 and have entry forms printed for them. FFA Farm Shop entries will be taken as well.

Coloring contest sheets are also available and will be sent to the schools for the children who wish to enter. Categories are 3 years & under; Pre-K and Kindergarten; 1st and 2nd grade; and 3rd and 4th grade. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three in each division.

Children’s Day activities will take place August 22 and 23, featuring hands-on programs, games, demonstrations, a petting zoo, OSU’s Bug Adventure, OKC Zoo animals, 4-H STEM activities and more. Children will be fed lunch again this year.

Most of the contests held this year offer terrific cash prizes thanks to generous sponsors. From Cornhole tournaments, wiener dog races, Kiddie Tractor Pull, Best Dressed Pet, Turtle Races, to Apple Pie and Salsa contests, there is something for everyone.

Barnyard Shenanigans, a new contest this year, offers a 50/50 split. Don’t miss your chance to experience the “sweet smell of success” and check out this contest.

Pick up a guide and visit the County Fair web pages for all the information needed to make sure you do not miss anything offered at this year’s fair.
